Kelsey Eihausen

Kelsey Eihausen, BHS grad from 2018, feels her experiences at BHS with teachers like Mr. Deardoff and Mrs. McGrew, and her time participating in the spring musicals, taught her valuable lessons in leadership and community involvement, which have been pivotal in her post-graduation success.

Favorite teacher?
Mr. Deardoff or Mrs. McGrew!

Favorite Memory at BHS?

My favorite memories were always participating in the musical every spring. It was great to be able to perform and share these stories with the wider community, and doing it with a group of amazing people.

Education:

I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and studied Broadcasting. My time at UNL and my time studying abroad in South Korea during my undergraduate career actually led me to the international education field. After graduating in May 2022 from UNL, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona to become a study abroad advisor at CEA CAPA Education Abroad. In my two years at CEA CAPA I have had many opportunities to grow as a professional, expand my international horizons and cultural competency, and I eventually after a year moved over to Institutional Relations and help cultivate relationships with higher education institutions across the US. It's really rewarding to be able to connect students to transformative international experiences and also get to make professional connections not only in the United States, but around the world.

Awards & Professional Affiliations:

I was awarded with a peer-voted Student Service Excellence award at CEA CAPA, which was a great honor. I am a member of the Global Leadership League.  I also have been a part of a working group with the Forum on Education Abroad to support students of underrepresented groups in study abroad, and am planning to further involve myself in NAFSA: Association of International Educators.

How did your education/experience at BHS prepare you for your life after graduation?

During my time at BHS I had a lot of leadership opportunities, such as serving as Treble Choir President and Concert Choir Vice President,  that helped me grow my skillsets for both my time at college as well as my career.

Advice for current students?

Have fun and take advantage of career development opportunities when they're presented to you. Additionally, don't feel pressured to have it all figured out. Life will take you (and your career!) sometimes to places you never expected, but that you end up being grateful for.
