On May 24, 2023 we celebrated the retirement of Kate Schumacher, current 8th grade Science Teacher at Bennington Middle School. 

Kate has served 21 years in the educational field: 18 years of them at Bennington Public Schools, and 3 at Bellevue Public Schools.

One of her favorite memories from teaching is when a lesson “clicks” for a student. 

Before entering the educational field, Kate worked for the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum doing informal teaching on plants, water conservation and landscapes. 

In her retirement, Kate plans to do LOTS of quilting and sewing.
