On May 23, 2023 we celebrated the retirement of Mrs. Michelle Schafersman, current 8th grade Math Teacher at Bennington South Middle School. 

Michelle joined Bennington Public Schools 7 years ago when the high school building was 7-12 serving 1 year there, 5 years at Bennington Middle School and her final year at Bennington South Middle School.

In total she has served 32 years in the education field.

Michelle and her husband have five children and six grandchildren. She went to Chadron State College for her Undergrad Degree, spent 1 year at UNL and finished at Wayne State College for her Graduate Degree.

Prior to Bennington:

• 7-12 Math Teacher in Hay Springs for 5 years
• Took 1 year off for graduate school
• 9-12 Math Teacher in Schuyler for 5 years 
• 15 years Administrator for Schuyler Community Schools
  

Favorite memory at BPS? 

I have enjoyed every single day at Bennington. Coaching VB this last fall was definitely a highlight!

What’s next? 

Currently, I am taking classes to become a Certified Pharmaceutical Technician.
